Specs & Features
- Smooth Operator: Constructed from 3" Mandrel Bent Aluminum, replacing the bumpy, corrugated factory hose to reduce turbulence and maximize air velocity into the turbo.
- Emissions Compliant: Cleverly designed to replace only the tube between the airbox and turbo, retaining the factory airbox (and its mandatory Hydrocarbon Trap) so you stay road-legal.
- Stealth Style: Finished in a durable Wrinkle Black Powder Coat that resists heat and scratches while matching the OEM engine bay aesthetic perfectly.
- Built to Last: Unlike the stock rubber that dries out and cracks over time, this aluminum tube is a permanent fix, secured by heavy-duty 5-Ply Silicone Couplers and stainless clamps.
- No Tune Hassle: Fully compatible with the Stock Tune or COBB OTS Maps, offering a plug-and-play installation with no ECU recalibration required.
Product Description
The 2022+ WRX (VB) is a great car, but Subaru made modifying the intake tricky. They integrated a "hydrocarbon trap" directly into the factory airbox, which is a federally mandated emissions part. Remove the box, and you fail emissions. COBB Tuning found the loophole. This Aluminum Intake Tube replaces the cheap, ribbed rubber hose that connects the airbox to the turbo. By keeping the factory box but upgrading the connection, you get the best of both worlds: improved flow and full compliance.
The stock intake tube looks like an accordion. Those ribs create turbulence, which slows down the air right before it hits the compressor wheel. The COBB Intake Tube is a smooth, 3-inch mandrel-bent pipe. It provides a straight, unrestricted path for the air, allowing the turbo to draw in what it needs without fighting friction. This means sharper throttle response and a happier turbo.
Factory rubber components have an expiration date. After years of sitting next to a hot turbo, the stock tube gets brittle and can eventually crack, leading to unmetered air leaks (and a rough idle). Aluminum doesn't crack. This is a "do it once, do it right" upgrade. Plus, the Wrinkle Black Finish looks fantastic under the hood—subtle enough to look factory, but custom enough to show you care about performance.
This is the smartest intake mod for the modern WRX owner. It removes the restriction of the corrugated tube without removing the legal equipment required to drive on the street. It installs in minutes, requires no tuning, and eliminates a potential failure point. Let that FA24 engine breathe the way it wants to with COBB.
